Tonweya Lodge, (which means “The Home of Goes First”) had its origin when it’s founders Gary and Delma Russell began creating Indian art objects for accents to go with the original Indian and Southwest paintings they were creating. It soon became obvious that there was a market for those art objects that was as vigorous as there was for the paintings, and the demand for truly authentic Native clothing was substantial. Even though we had made regalia for our own use since the mid sixties, we were surprised at the number of folks who wanted us to make them something. Since 1976 we have created a wide variety of Native American regalia for customers all over the U.S., Japan, Finland, West Germany, England, and in other countries as well We have never actually advertised our business so we are always happy, and a little amazed, when we get calls from foreign countries from someone wanting to place an order. |
